It is well-known that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach – what better way to spread some love this February than honoring the people who produce our food!!
A lot of men are leaving their farm lands in Siargao to be part of the exponentially booming tourism industry as service providers, i.e. habal-habal drivers, construction workers, surfing trainers, boatmen which is now causing Siargao Island with deep food security problem. However, a lot of women are left on the farm waiting for support and empowerment. We now see this as an opportunity for the island's agriculture sector. Siargao will be the FIRST WOMEN-LED AGRICULTURE island in the Philippines.
